(Summary description) Ferrosilicon as deoxidizer, alloy agent is used in steelmaking industry, ferrosilicon as inoculant and spheroidizing agent is used in casting industry, and steelmaking and casting is China's basic heavy industry, so it is necessary to understand the raw material additives used in heavy industry.   Ferrosilicon is an alloy of iron and silicon.   Ferrosilicon is also called silicon [X ī] iron. Is coke, steel chips, quartz (or silica) as raw material, smelting with electric furnace made of iron silicon alloy. It is widely used in steel industry, casting industry and other industrial production.   Common state: natural block, thickness of about 100mm. (Whether the appearance is cracked, whether the color faded when touched by hand, whether the knock is clear, the thickness of the cross section is gray and white, with pores)   Common packing: bulk or ton bag packing.   Note: Iron silicon is afraid of moisture, and the natural block is easy to powdery when it meets water, and the silicon content is reduced accordingly.   Use of ferrosilicon:   1, used as deoxidizer and alloy agent in the steel industry. In order to obtain qualified chemical composition of steel and ensure the quality of steel, in the final stage of steel making must be deoxidized, the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is very large, so iron silicon is a strong deoxidizer for steel making for precipitation and diffusion deoxidization. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel, so when smelting structural steel (containing silicon 0.40-1.75%), tool steel (containing SiO.30-1.8%), spring steel (containing SiO.40-2.8%) and transformer silicon steel (containing Silicon 2.81-4.8%), Ferrosilicon is also used as an alloying agent. At the same time, it is an effective new technology to improve the quality of steel, reduce the cost and save the use of iron by improving the shape of inclusions and reducing the content of gas elements in liquid steel. It is especially suitable for deoxidation of molten steel in continuous casting. Practice has proved that ferrosilicon not only meets the deoxidation requirements of steel making, but also has desulfurization performance and has the advantages of heavy ratio and strong penetration.   In addition, in the steelmaking industry, the use of ferrosilicon powder at high temperature can release a lot of heat this characteristic, often used as ingot cap heating agent to improve the quality and recovery of steel ingot.   2, used as inoculant and spheroidizing agent in the cast iron industry. Cast iron is an important metal material in modern industry. It is cheaper than steel, easy to melt and smelting, and has excellent casting performance and much better seismic resistance than steel. In particular, the mechanical properties of ductile iron are as good as or close to those of steel. Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon to cast iron can prevent the formation of carbide in iron, promote the precipitation and spheroidization of graphite, so in the production of nodular cast iron, ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (help precipitation of graphite) and spheroidization agent.   3, used as reducing agent in ferroalloy production. Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen very high, but the carbon content of high silicon ferrosilicon is very low. Therefore, high silicon ferrosilicon (or siliceous alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the production of low carbon ferroalloy in ferroalloy industry.   4, 75# ferrosilicon in the Pijiang process of magnesium smelting is often used in the process of high temperature smelting of magnesium metal, magnesium replacement in Cao.MGO, every production of a ton of magnesium metal will consume about 1.2 tons of ferrosilicon, playing a great role in the production of magnesium metal.   5, in other uses. Pulverized or atomized ferrosilicon powder can be used as suspended phase in mineral processing industry. Can be used as electrode coating in electrode manufacturing. High silicon ferrosilicon in the chemical industry can be used to manufacture silicone and other products.   Among these uses, the steelmaking industry, the foundry industry and the ferroalloy industry are the largest users of ferrosilicon. Together they consume more than 90% of ferrosilicon. In a variety of different grades of ferrosilicon, the most widely used is 75% ferrosilicon. In the steelmaking industry, about 3-5kg75%ferrosilicon is consumed for every 1t of steel produced.
